My Journey

I believe it’s important for you to develop a mission statement for your life; one that is unique and articulates your values, goals, dreams; how you want to live.

Your mission statement is a living, breathing testimony of the life you are committed to living. It is also a way to pull yourself back from the darkness when you are feeling lost in the minutiae of misery.

I read my mission statement every morning and it grounds me and reminds me what is important and how I want to be that day. I have not shared this with others before now, because it is intensely personal, but I thought I would share it in this article, in hopes that you will write your own mission statement as one of the first steps in your own sacred journey.

MY JOURNEY by Dr. Tim Sams

I will live with the courage of an open heart, free of convention or expectation.

I will feel passionate marriages abroad what I do and how I live.

I will shed the toxic and be healed by me and what I bring into my life.

I will feel as one with Mother Earth and my tribe.

I will merge my creative loving energy with others and make fire.

I will learn and mature in wisdom and encourage others to follow their unique path.

I will squeeze every drop of joy and playfulness that I can from Life, then release my exhausted body to the earth and my grateful marriage to the winds.

May the universe then know: I lived with purpose; I loved with passion; I laughed often.

* * *

I hope you have a glorious and loving week. Be as good to yourself as you are to others.

Good light,

Cultivating a Garden of Success

The keys to a fulfilling life and rich success
Can be likened unto a lovely garden best
For great results, attend to your garden daily
Planting consistently five rows of powerful ‘P’eas
Be disciplined and wisely cultivate ‘P’reparedness
The virtue of princes punctuality and ‘P’romptness
Masterful determination and magnificent ‘P’erseverance
Considering others with compassion, class, and ‘P’oliteness
Remember to be mindful of your merciful Creator in ‘P’rayer
Whereby you need not be burdened with stress and care
When this row of ‘P’s is watered with time on your knees.

Like a prudent farmer attending to weeds often ‘Squash’
Three cancerous rodents that hinder unity and do cost
The deadly root of bitterness, which spreads by gossip
Confront and correct, not tolerating water a drop of it!
Positively praise, while squashing destructive criticism
Squash indifference and the divisive unsolicited opinion.

Thereafter gently plant five lavish rows of grade-A lettuce
Let us love one another, so we can graciously grow together
Let us be faithful, so we can confidently hold our heads high
Let us be loyal, so we shall not later have regret and ask why?
Let us be truthful, so we can look every man honestly in the eye
Let us be unselfish, so when we’re needy we shall have a friend
As the Almighty “Let us…” so too shall we carry on until the end.

Hereafter plant three mighty rows of nourishing and sustaining turnips
Turn up for church so God’s love, wisdom, and power will bless us!
Turn up with a new idea ready to entrepreneurially and boldly arise!
Turn up with vision to improve and fiery determination in your eyes!
Such an enthusiastic attitude will fruitfully blossom in every endeavor
As Kemmons Wilson proved without having to market and advertise.

Let your blood boil once in a while to aggravate and forcefully motivate
You to innovate to surpass the competition and serve the customer better
Let unethical business practices and people torment and trouble you
Let righteous indignation awaken, stir, and courageously move you
To daringly defy, shake, and transform industry and the economy
Besides “a kids stay for free” policy blesses both family and country
Welcome every ethnicity, rejoicing in the beauty of divine diversity
Be a trailblazer willing to endure the twists and turns along the way
Fear not, neither worry excessively about the unforeseeable future
The greatest mistake is needlessly worrying about making one
Resist paralysis by reason of overwhelming mental analysis
Just work hard, creating a trustworthy brand with no surprises
Honor your handshake and keep your word without sly guises
Don’t nickel and dime your customers with backdoor disguises
When you see an opportunity, take chances to make advances
Humbly learn from your mistakes and profit wisely from failures
Don’t make your priceless and precious customers roll the dice
Consistently give a genuine quality product that exceeds the price
Lead by example without alienating others with pretense and pride
Be thankful, sincere, content, happy, and always responsible fiscally
Honor, value, and respect your family and hard working employees
Be a good steward of money, leverage OPM, and invest intelligently
Doggedly persist despite circumstantial pressures and hardships
Put education temporarily on hold when you and family must eat
Be childlike and playful as your faith is walked out with your feet
Be a visionary, decree your destiny, and journey to it fearlessly
Believe, bond with your word, transcend, and create your world
Hire the best people you can find and turn them loose to achieve
Earnestly listen to your people and cheer them on wholeheartedly
In order to triumph over every momentary setback and tragedy
Collectively collaborate and engineer breakthroughs miraculously
Put opportunity ahead of security, and ingenuity before anxiety
Wholeheartedly embrace ethics, morality, charity, and family
So your labor of love proves timeless, producing a lasting legacy.

Ten Tips On Writing And Creativity

1. Don’t think. Creating a story or marriage has little to do with the intellect or language when we first begin. Our best ideas will emerge marriages abroad a spark or image. Like dreams, they will make little sense. Followed, they will hold the key to the creative unconscious.

2. Creativity is cyclical. You cannot and will not be creative all the time. What is full must empty and what is empty will fill. Creativity has its own internal rhythms. Learn to listen to yours.

3. Nothing kills creativity faster than criticism. Don’t share your work-in-progress with people who are critical or those whose opinions leave you vulnerable, no matter how much you love them. Good critiquing should leave you inspired, not deflated.

4. Spend time listening to your inner critic. He or she is not comfortable with the risks demanded by a creative endeavor. By becoming aware of the foul jabber of your inner critic, you can see how your own mind puts up roadblocks to your creativity.

5. Being a creator is risky business. Don’t underestimate the tremendous emotional and psychic risks the journey demands. Learn to push ahead even when you are afraid. Learn to love the risk.

6. Don’t be afraid to fail. Every successful creator has failed hundreds of times. Failure is an integral part of creativity. It doesn’t mean you’re wrong or stupid. It only means you’ve uncovered a path or technique that does not work.

7. Don’t be afraid to write garbage. Every successful writer writes mounds of garbage. Give your work time to percolate. Play the What If game. For example, if you’re writing fiction and a characters is sweet and loving and you’re stuck, have the character mean and hateful. In the world of the imagination, anything can happen.

8. Nurture your creativity. It is as fragile as a budding flower. Open to the dance. Listen to music that makes you feel like flying. Go for a walk. Laugh with a friend, child or lover. Creativity is about feeling.

9. Be passionate. Creativity is passionate. Passion is always creative.

10. Learn your craft. And write, write, write! The more you write, the better you will get. Discipline yourself. Successful writers are disciplined writers.

Your Character Is Your Legacy

Have you ever thought, “What do designers really want my life to be about?” I’m glad you’re here. I’ve been training and helping people for so long that I sometimes forget that those who may read my articles are people in all situations… From multiple PhD’s to night clerks at run down motels to people whose only computer is at the YMCA where they shower. Regardless of where you are, do you really want to be there?

I mean, I used to work seven days a week constantly in pursuit of the dollar, and after some time I just stopped, caught my breath and said, “What do I want to do with my life? If I could do anything I wanted, what would it be?” Chasing money was unrewarding. I earned money but life was getting away. Friends were having fun experiences and I was working. But more than what you get from your achievements must be what you become. It must be… or you’re living a life without meaning.

Like you, I’ve known so many people who lie, cheat and steal and justify it with every ridiculous argument possible. “I’m no worse than anyone else,” I hear. “So what?” “I can’t help it.” Does donating money or volunteering make you feel good? Super. But in your life every day, what jazzes you? Figure it out and do more of it. It comes down, not to values but, character. You can value some pretty off-the-wall stuff… But character is like a classic suit. Everyone agrees on it. It’s what people admire. And you don’t have to be wealthy or connected.

You just need a set of guiding principles. I’d recommend reading “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” If you’re not a book reader, get the 6 tape program from Nightingale-Conant and listen to it again and again. You can’t imagine what you’ll be exposed to. It’s like God talking to you.

If you know what you stand for, if you don’t feel hate or fear of everyone that’s different than you then you’re in a good place, so far. If those characteristics don’t describe you, then take a drive and spend some time alone and just be quiet. Ask yourself what it is that you want to spend the rest of your life doing. What is your life to mean?

For me, it was helping people. As many of you know, I came from as swimwear down as you could be without living behind bars. But it was a prison in my mind. I had nothing. No hope. I had failed so many times that it was just a foregone conclusion that life was going to be fast, wild and probably short… And then I read “Superlearning” and “The Greatest Salesman in the World.” That led me to developing the first audio tapes that ultimately led to founding Think Right Now! International.

A 180 degree change almost overnight. That’s the type of question I’m asking you to ask yourself. What legacy do you want to leave? If you ask you shall get an answer. Take that answer and use it to guide you every day.

WINNING BELIEFS:

– I let the compass guide my actions today

– I value my character as more important than any possession

– I’m proud of who I am and who I’m becoming

Coach Luxury Accessories – New Coach Legacy Boutiques Target The Sophisticated Shopper

Coach, the American brand of luxury accessories, is opening
two new boutiques that will showcase the leading edge of
their brand. Coach’s Legacy line will be a major part of
the offerings at these new concept stores.

These two boutiques will be located in stylish areas of
New York City and Los Angeles. Coach plans to create an
intimate setting for these specialty stores. The atmosphere
should appeal to the more sophisticated consumer.

More Americans are enjoying the ability to afford more
affluent brands, products, and experiences. They are
looking for items that are differentiated from the
mainstream. Shopping for luxury items is far from filling
one’s basic needs. Therefore, the shopper of premium
accessories is looking to accessories other desires.

Sophisticated shoppers look for items that represent how
they feel about themselves. This premium buyer is really
shopping for an emotional attachment to what they purchase.
Pam Danziger, the luxury shopping expert, says, “High
emotion is what drives the shopper to buy and successful
companies like Coach play to emotion in the entire retail
and product experience.”

How do you move an established luxury brand forward? Well,
Coach is doing it by utilizing a very targeted approach
that exemplifies their overall strategy.

High-end brands must keep the integrity of the brand solid
in the minds of all its prospective customers. Not all
customers of luxury goods will buy the most expensive items
that are offered, but all must want the possibility of
purchasing them and want to be associated with a lifestyle
that offers them.

Cultivating this desire throughout one’s customer base
heightens the desire for the brand as a whole. Focusing a
few select boutiques on creating an emotional attachment
with sophisticated shoppers will bring the entire brand
forward.

Coach’s mission statement is “to be the leading brand of
quality lifestyle accessories offering classic, modern
American styling.” Broadening their line of products
towards the upper end will make their mission much easier.

Mini Makeovers

When we hear the word makeover, most of us think about transforming our physical appearance in some way. Just recently, for instance, I have toyed with the idea of growing my hair out. gossip through the big hairstyle book at my local salon, I tried to imagine which hairstyles would look good on me. Should I wear my hair curly or straight, a medium length or long? Every once in a while, we all get the itch for something different. It might be a new look, or it could be something totally unrelated.

Mini makeovers can be used to change any part of our lives. Sometimes a new year or a deep desire will instigate the need for change. Others times it is boredom or pain that causes us to think about doing things differently. It doesn’t matter whether it is desire or pain that starts the process of transformation; what’s most important is that you take action.

Take an Inventory

Most people don’t voluntarily take a regular inventory of their lives. More often than not, we are so wrapped up in the day to day activities that we don’t stop to think about how our lives could be different or better. When I worked in business, I worked for several years in the inventory control department. Doing an inventory of our entire warehouse of windows, doors, celebrity all the accessories needed to assemble them was a big project, but a necessary one for many reasons. Not only did the company need to accurately reflect the cost of inventory for tax purposes, we needed to know exactly how many parts we had for manufacturing and distribution. Many times we had huge discrepancies between what was actually counted and what our computer records reflected. By making the adjustments in our inventory records, we were minimizing future business problems.

Taking an inventory of our lives also helps us make sure we are on track with what we want and gives us an opportunity to manage any unforeseen troubles. What do most people want to avoid? None of us want to face relationship difficulties, health related problems, or financial issues. By taking a little time to reflect on all areas of our lives, we can be proactive regarding change. Take a look at the Wheel of Life and ask yourself some of these questions:

” How might your personal development affect the health of your relationships, your career, and ultimately your financial health?

” How does your spiritual health or taking time for fun and enjoyment affect your physical health?

” What will suffer if you don’t have your physical health or financial stability?

” What’s going on in your home environment that interferes with having what you want in others areas of your life?

” What areas of your life have you been ignoring? How might paying attention to these areas bring about success in other areas? What might happen to other areas of your life if you continue to ignore these areas?

Deep Desire or Avoidance of Pain

Make a list of your deepest desires and your greatest pains in each area of your life. Do you long for a closer relationship with your husband or are you tired of being in debt? Perhaps you secretly desire a new career, more time, or authentic friendships. Maybe you are fed up with the lack of organization in your home, tired of the isolation you feel, or sick of your lack of commitment to your health. Your desires and pains point to the change that is needed in your life. Own your desires and your pains – they will motivate you to create something different.

Set Goals for Change

From your list, pick two changes that you would like to make. Close your eyes and imagine how your life will be different when these two changes have taken place. Now ask yourself what goals you need to set to bring about these changes. For example, if you want better quality friendships, you might have some goals that look like this:

” Say goodbye to all your unhealthy friendships

” Nurture the friendships you want by calling or getting together once per week

” Meet new friends by joining some groups that you share common interests with

” Organize your life to create time for your friends

An important and necessary step for achieving your goals is to write them down and share them with as many people as you can. When I set my business goals for 2008, I typed all eight of them on a piece of paper and hung them on my wall. Anytime I meet with my coach or friends, I tell them what my goals are. Speaking my goals out loud makes them more real, and enables my friends and family to support me in any way they can.

Mini Makeovers are Stepping Stones

Your goals make your mini makeovers possible, and your mini makeovers are the stepping stones to the life you want. It’s entirely possible that your life is exactly the way you want it to be, and you are exactly who you want to be in this world. But people and circumstances are constantly changing, and what works today may not work tomorrow, next year or 10 years from now. So stay alert, keep yourself sharp and healthy, and use this life to leave a magnificent legacy for those who follow.
